Tired of emails flying around and last-minute practitioners not knowing where to find their ZOOM link? Sangha App is here to help, to make your Teacher work easier.

Sangha App allows you to take care of some of these steps and overcome the hassle of too many emails, while stimulating community engagement.

Inviting people to the app

When you start a course using Sangha App, you will need to invite your course participants to Sangha App. Most practitioners are already signed up, as we have a user base of more than 5000 practitioners!

There may be some students that are not signed up. They need to be invited by someone (maybe even you) who knows they received transmission. That person should give them the code.

Creating the event

You can create and share on Sangha App any practice or event related to the International Dzogchen Community and to the Transmission of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu or Namkhai Yeshi.

Sangha Web

From Sangha Web, accessible on your desktop computer, you can insert events (even recurring events), edit, duplicate, export, or cancel one or more events. Clicking on the keywords and the tutorials will guide you step by step, with screenshots.

You can also insert events from your smartphone, by tapping Events in the main menu, and the big red + button in the lower right corner of the screen (watch the video tutorial in the next paragraph).

You will find the events you created in My events (Sangha App) or Created (Sangha Web), where you can easily access your schedule and the Zoom link.

We have a special section for Ganapuja. If you are inserting a Ganapuja practice event, please select the tag “Ganapuja”.

Inserting Zoom link or registration link

When you create an event, among other information, you can insert the zoom link in the suggested field. The field will be visible if you selected “online” or “online and on site” when prompted for the type of event. If needed, you can insert other links in the description.

If you want participants to register to the event before you send them the zoom link—insert the registration link instead.

Create your course channel

Sangha App also host discussion spaces or Channels. You can create a public or private Channel for sharing materials, recordings, images, giving space to an open discussion between practitioners and teachers

To create your course channel, you need to go in the App to Channels and select the big green + in the lower right part of the screen.

Then, invite the people by giving them the name of the channel or by sharing the link on Sangha App. Tutorial: Sharing a channel on Sangha App

You might find useful to share with them this tutorial to help them navigate Channels in the app.

How to keep up and create meaningful interaction in your channel:

Publish regularly, and set yourself reminders to keep up with the schedule.
Write short posts (~100 characters), alternating between photos, videos, and links.
Invite people to contribute and interact with your posts.
Use a third-party service like Streamable or Youtube to share your videos.

You can share links to recordings or other multimedia, but the file should be saved in a separate storage such as Vimeo, Streamable, Zoom or other cloud spaces.

Linking channels and events

After creating the event you can invite practitioners. There are several ways to share events and channels.

Export to other platforms

You can share a Sangha App event via web link to any platform. To view events that are “restricted” or “with transmission,” one needs to sign in with the email used in the app.

On Sangha Web, with the Export function, you can also export the title, description and links of the event to post on Facebook, email, or in a pdf. Tutorial: Export one or more events

Some examples

We have tested these possibilities in a course for new practitioners, organized by Merigar East. We created two channels for the module “First Steps on the Path”, one for each of the main languages of the course. We noticed that even practitioners who did not actively follow the course joined the channel to benefit from the discussion. The SMS teachers were answering the questions as they were formulated.

Arnaud Coquillard is actively using Sangha App for the online study group of SMS that he leads. The two channels that he uses are Arnaud Coquillard’s SMS space (in ENGLISH) and Arnaud Coquillard espace SMS (EN FRANCAIS). He often posts reminders, course materials and recordings, and he is available for student’s questions.
